The town of Deep River was named for the Connecticut River. The beautiful coastal town was established in 1635 but later settled on the name Deep River in 1947. Part of the Hartford, CT metropolitan area, Deep River is home to about 5,000 people. The town is part of the “Tri-town Area,” also made up of Chester and Essex, CT. The area is home to many families and retirees. It features Deep River Elementary School, John Winthrop Middle School, and Valley Regional High School, as well as the Connecticut Transition Academy. Deep River has a small-town charm and includes a walkable center with plenty of mom-and-pop shops and maritime heritage.
